Boat Mattresses

We love all of the comforts of home while sailing the waterways, and a good nights sleep after our day of sailing, fishing or exploring is essential. We make innerspring, latex or foam mattresses in many shapes and sizes, to suit V-Berths, rounded end island beds and odd shaped cut out mattresses.

There is no such thing as a standard boat mattress. Each boat is individual, and so are the mattresses. Any mattress for your boat can be made in 1 piece, 2 piece, 3 piece, or any way it needs to be made to fit the bed space perfectly.

Many of our customers are worried about getting the measurements and exact shape of their boat mattress correct, this is where we can help you get the perfect fit. If you are nearby to our factory/showroom you are more than welcome to come in with your old boat mattress so we can draw up an exact template of the mattress. Alternatively, if you are unable to come into the factory, we are more than happy to come to where your boat is moored locally and measure up an exact template from the actual base. We can also measure the taper down the side to fit the exact angle of the hull of the boat. This is the best way to get the correct shape and size of the mattress. It is an extra cost to come out to the boat and draw up the template, however, the cost includes the delivery and fitting of the mattress when it is completed.

Many boats have small companionways to get down into the boat, which is why some of the boat mattresses are made in 2 or more pieces. Or it could be because you need to get underneath the mattress to access the storage compartments. However, some people prefer to try and keep their mattress in one piece. How do you get an innerspring mattress down through the small companionway? We put a bend across the middle of the mattress (or at a point where it would most suit)  so all you need to do is bend it through the middle, slide it down through the small companionway and then open it out onto the bed base. The comfort of the mattress is not compromised in any way, and you would never know it was there.

If you decide to have your boat mattress made in 2 or more pieces, we take out the edge wire where the mattresses join so you can't feel the join, however we put side supports along the join for extra strength. Another extra option is to put a zip to join the mattresses together, which also helps support the mattress where the edge wire is taken out.

No boat mattress is too hard for us so please take a look at some of the mattresses we have made, and if you think your mattress is too hard to have made, then contact us so we can assure you that all shapes and sizes can be made by us at Made to Measure Mattresses.
